SLIDERS is an ambitious artistic and technical attempt which proposes a new way of conceiving and producing cinema. The invented open computer machine thus enables three “performers” to edit in real time a new type of film from visual and sound elements stored in databases. This film, played during live performances in front of an audience, is "the film to come", that is to say an N + 1 film to which a new track, that of the sound track, would have been added to the image track and to the sound track : programming. One of the characteristics of this new type of film is that it is "configurable" or even infinitely modifiable.

By putting the cinematographic language into perspective, the performers offer a new way of envisioning and making cinema that uses the potential of digital technology. SLIDERS_1 is therefore not a film in the classical sense of the word, but a hyper-film, an N + 1 film. Its main characteristic would first be to exist in a virtual state in the memory of the computer, that is to say in the form of a database, to then be updated during a public performance.

The SLIDERS database was created from the two Psycho films. First the original shot by Alfred Hitchcock in 1960, then his double directed by Gus Van Sant in 1998.
