Collaboration with the Jules Étienne Marey art gallery
http://www.musees-bourgogne.org
The collaboration is in line with the National digitization program of the Ministry of Culture and Communication, call for project 2010, Innovative cultural and digital services.Artists and researchers involved in the project have been working with the E.J. Marey art gallery in order to carry out didactic, artistic and playful experimentations based on its documentary and iconographical content. These archives, as well as machines allowing motion synthesis, will be used to undertake experimentations in order to develop principles, applications and prototypes for digital and cultural innovative services.
We mainly work on the development of 3 axis, each of them being the subject of a specific creation :
1 - The interactive browsing space in the content of the art gallery, that is to say the indexation of the documents, the creation of a specific form to make documents and selected tokens appear together (a tower system, like buildings of data or consecutive layers in the cyberspace), invention of interfaces for interacting with the selected data, creation of a piece of furniture to incorporate screens, computers, and physical interfaces allowing access to the documents and their manipulation;
2 - Development of a tool mixing reality and virtuality in order to report the phenomenom of motion synthesis. It can be made by setting up a playful device of capture that reproducts the movement in real time ;
3 – Creation of an interface able to simulate one of the technical objects exhibited in the art gallery, allowing us to understand its inner functioning. The interface allows to play with audiovisual content (physical record desk allowing us to slide in the digitized frames) ;
The duration of this work is set to one year and will begun in January 2010. The general public will be able to access it from the institution facilities and the Internet.
